This Privacy Policy explains how Hue & Queue ("Hue & Queue", "we", "us" or "our") collects, uses, holds, discloses and protects personal information when you use hueandqueue.com and the connected Hue & Queue network, including Cassowary Recordings, Paint & Hope Studio, The Loot & Greed Syndicate, the shared Video Hub, accounts, memberships, commerce, community features, customer support and related services.
Hue & Queue is operated from South Australia, Australia. Where applicable, we handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), the Australian Privacy Principles and other applicable privacy laws.
1. What this policy covers
--------------------------
This policy applies to personal information collected through Hue & Queue websites, account and membership features, sign-in services, checkout and order functions, media and discovery features, community tools, support channels and other services that link to this policy. Third-party websites and services have their own privacy practices.
2. Information we may collect
-----------------------------
- Account and identity information: name, display name, username, email address, profile image, account identifiers, login method, membership status and account preferences.
- Google or Facebook sign-in information: when you choose a social sign-in option, we may receive the basic identity information authorised by you, such as your provider account identifier, name, email address and profile image. We do not receive your Google or Facebook password.
- Contact and support information: messages, enquiries, complaint details, support requests and correspondence.
- Order and transaction information: cart contents, orders, transaction references, billing or delivery information you provide, purchased items, refunds, subscription or membership records and customer-service notes.
- Community and creator information: comments, profile content, playlists, follows, saved items, reactions, reports, moderation records and other information you choose to submit.
- Media and preference information: watch, listen or reading history; playback or reading progress; saved items; followed creators, topics or businesses; language, caption, notification and accessibility preferences; and interactions with recommendation or discovery features.
- Technical information: IP address, browser and device details, operating system, timestamps, session identifiers, cookie information, request logs, security events, error logs and diagnostic information.
- Regional information: approximate region inferred from technical information where reasonably needed for security, language, local events, availability or service delivery.
We do not intentionally make a member's private home address public merely because that person has registered or signed in.
3. How we collect information
-----------------------------
We collect information directly from you when you create an account, contact us, place an order, join a membership, submit content, set preferences or otherwise interact with Hue & Queue. We may also receive limited information from authentication, payment, email, hosting, security and other service providers when needed to provide the service you requested.
4. Why we use personal information
----------------------------------
We may use personal information to:
- create, secure and manage accounts;
- authenticate users and support Google or Facebook sign-in;
- provide memberships, early access, libraries, follows, playlists, history and other personalised features;
- process orders, payments, refunds and customer-service requests;
- deliver email, password reset, account, order and service communications;
- operate media playback, captions, language preferences, search, discovery and recommendations;
- moderate community features and investigate abuse, fraud or security incidents;
- improve reliability, accessibility, performance and user experience;
- meet legal, accounting, taxation, dispute-resolution and regulatory obligations; and
- protect Hue & Queue, our users and third parties from misuse or harm.
5. Google Sign-In and Google user data
--------------------------------------
If you choose Continue with Google , Hue & Queue requests only the basic identity permissions needed for sign-in: openid , email and profile . This allows us to identify your Google account, receive your name, email address and profile image where provided, and create or sign you into the corresponding Hue & Queue account.
Hue & Queue does not use Google Sign-In to access Gmail, Google Drive, Google Photos, your contacts, calendars or other unrelated Google content.
Google user data received through sign-in is used only to provide account authentication, account linking, security and related user-facing account functions. We do not sell Google user data, use it for targeted advertising, or use it to train a general-purpose artificial intelligence model.
If you disconnect Google from Hue & Queue or delete your Hue & Queue account, we will stop using the Google connection for future sign-ins. Information that must be retained for legitimate security, transaction, legal or backup purposes may remain for the applicable retention period.
6. Facebook / Meta Sign-In
--------------------------
If you choose Facebook or Meta sign-in, we may receive the basic profile information you authorise, such as your provider identifier, name, email address and profile image. We use that information to authenticate you and manage your Hue & Queue account. We do not receive your Facebook password.
7. Payments and commerce
------------------------
Where Hue & Queue uses a third-party payment provider such as Stripe, payment card details are submitted directly to that provider and are not intended to be stored by Hue & Queue. We may receive transaction identifiers, payment status, billing details and other information necessary to fulfil an order, issue a refund, prevent fraud and keep business records.
8. Email and customer communications
------------------------------------
We may use an email provider, including Zoho or another configured SMTP provider, to deliver account, support, transactional and optional marketing messages. Transactional messages may include password resets, account notices, order confirmations and service updates.
Marketing messages will include a reasonable way to opt out where required. Opting out of marketing does not prevent essential transactional or security messages.
9. Cookies, local storage and similar technologies
--------------------------------------------------
Hue & Queue may use cookies, browser storage and similar technologies for sign-in sessions, security, cart state, preferences, accessibility settings, playback progress and basic site operation. We may also use privacy-conscious measurement or analytics to understand aggregate use of the service.
You can control cookies through your browser, but blocking essential cookies may prevent account, checkout, preference or security features from working correctly.
10. Recommendations, personalisation and automated features
-----------------------------------------------------------
Hue & Queue may use your activity, follows, saved items, language, media history and preferences to organise or recommend content. These features are intended to improve discovery and are not intended to make legal, credit, employment, insurance or similarly significant decisions about you.
Some features may use automated transcription, translation, recommendation, moderation assistance or local/artificial-intelligence tools. Automated output can be wrong and is subject to human review where appropriate.
11. Age-restricted content and age assurance
--------------------------------------------
Some Hue & Queue content, including certain gaming, livestream, video, story or artwork material, may carry an age classification or audience restriction. Where reasonably required by law or our safety rules, we may ask you to confirm your age or use an age-assurance provider or other proportionate method to determine whether you meet the required age threshold.
Where age assurance is used, we aim to minimise personal information. Where technically available, we prefer to receive an age band or an "over 18" / "under 18" result rather than a copy of identity documents. We do not intend to retain government identification images merely to provide ordinary site access unless this is genuinely necessary and lawful. Any age-assurance provider may process information under its own privacy policy.
21. When we may disclose information
------------------------------------
We may disclose personal information where reasonably necessary to:
- service providers that host, secure, authenticate, deliver email, process payments, provide infrastructure or otherwise help operate Hue & Queue;
- professional advisers such as accountants, insurers or legal advisers where reasonably required;
- law enforcement, courts, regulators or other authorities where required or authorised by law; or
- protect users, Hue & Queue or others from fraud, abuse, security threats or unlawful conduct.
We do not sell personal information as a business model.
12. Service providers and international processing
--------------------------------------------------
Hue & Queue is self-hosted where practical, but some optional or operational services may be supplied by global providers such as Google, Meta, Zoho, Stripe, Cloudflare and other infrastructure providers. Depending on the provider and configuration, personal information may be processed or stored outside Australia, including in the United States and other countries in which those providers operate. Provider locations and sub-processors can change over time.
13. Data retention
------------------
We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, to maintain an active account or service, to resolve disputes, to meet accounting, taxation or legal obligations, to detect fraud or security incidents, and to maintain appropriate backups.
Different categories of information may have different retention periods. Some information may remain in backups for a limited period after deletion from the active service.
14. Security
------------
We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards designed to protect personal information against loss, misuse, interference, unauthorised access, modification and disclosure. Measures may include access controls, encryption in transit, secure authentication, logging, software updates, backups and restricted administrative access.
No website, network or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. If you believe your Hue & Queue account or personal information has been compromised, contact us promptly.
15. Data breaches
-----------------
If an eligible data breach occurs and applicable law requires notification, we will take reasonable steps to assess the incident, contain it, reduce harm and notify affected individuals and regulators as required.
16. Access, correction and account deletion
-------------------------------------------
You may request access to personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct inaccurate information, or request deletion of your account and personal information where applicable. Some records may need to be retained for lawful business, transaction, fraud-prevention, dispute, tax, security or backup purposes.
To make a request, use the Hue & Queue Contact page (https://hueandqueue.com/contact/) . We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request.
17. Complaints
--------------
If you have a privacy concern or complaint, contact us through the Hue & Queue Contact page (https://hueandqueue.com/contact/) with enough detail for us to investigate. We will review the issue and respond within a reasonable time. If applicable privacy law gives you the right to complain to a regulator, that right is not affected by this process.
18. Children and younger users
------------------------------
Hue & Queue is a mixed creative and media service. Some material may be marked for particular audiences or age groups. We do not knowingly seek to collect more personal information from children than is reasonably necessary for the relevant service. Parents or guardians may contact us about a younger user's account or personal information.
19. Your choices
----------------
You can manage many preferences through your Hue & Queue account, including profile visibility, notifications, follows, language and accessibility settings where available. You can also choose not to use Google or Facebook sign-in and instead use the native Hue & Queue / WordPress account option.
20. Third-party links
---------------------
Hue & Queue may link to streaming services, social networks, shops, artists, creators or other external services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party sites that we do not control.
21. Changes to this policy
--------------------------
We may update this Privacy Policy when our services, providers, business practices or legal obligations change. The current version will be published at https://hueandqueue.com/privacy/ with a revised "Last updated" date.
22. Contact
-----------
Questions, privacy requests and complaints can be sent through the public Hue & Queue Contact page (https://hueandqueue.com/contact/) .
